World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade of your items is a vital aspect of equipping your character. Upgrades increase the damage of your item and enchantments.
They also provide bonuses and improvements. The Blacksmith can sell them to you.
Players can recycle any item by pressing the upgrade button on it. Each recycled item adds one level to the upgrade gauge.
Weapon
When the weapon is upgraded it will gain a base damage bonus and an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. The weapon can also gain a number of upgrade components that offer additional effects or attributes, and some have distinctive cosmetic effects. In addition to the standard upgrades, a weapon may be upgraded with an attribute called Calibration that increases certain stats like Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This can be done through the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. Depending on the weapon tier, this can be done up to four times.
After the weapon has reached its maximum upgrade it can be modified to give different bonuses and effects, or to improve specific stats. A variety of these upgrades can be re-applied at once, and the effects differ based on the quality of the weapon.
Two Blacksmiths can perform these upgrades in the game: Blacksmith Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace and Smithing Master Hewg at the Church of Elleh hub. Both upgrade materials differ: Smithing Stones to modify the damage weapon does and Somber Smithing Stones to modify the standard weapons.
In general, it's advisable to increase the damage of your weapon first. Then you can improve your armour defense and, finally those secondary stats required by your build. It is not uncommon to see melee Druids upgrade their weapon before upgrading any other gear. This helps maximize DPS. This is particularly true for enchantments that can enhance a weapon's stats and damage.
Armor
Item Upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of certain armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. These upgrades may also provide additional effects, like an increase in damage or cosmetic enhancement. Item Upgrades are available through crafting, buying from NPC vendors, or in loot drops, or as rewards for quests.
Armor can be improved by visiting the Armorer NPC, and spending the appropriate currency. In most cases an item of armor will be upgraded to next tier once an upgrade is applied. This is possible for any type of armor, however some items cannot be upgraded at all (such as the armor that is used as a starter in Great Sky Island).
The majority of armor upgrades provide some improvement to an item's base defense or strength. Certain upgrade components, however can lead to significant increases in strength or defense. This is especially relevant when upgrading epic items.
In addition to increasing the base defense of an item, certain upgrades also offer special abilities that can be activated while wearing a piece of armor. These abilities can prove beneficial in combat. For instance, they can boost attack speed or block. Some upgrades have effect that are passive and can be useful, such as decreasing damage when wearing armor or increasing the chance to dodge an attack.
Upgrades to armor could require multiple attempts, based on the type of armor. For example for instance, if a player wants to upgrade the strength of a Steelclash armor to Dragonscale the first attempt will result in a brand new piece of Dragonscale with a base defense between the ages of 59-67. The second attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor with a base defense between 67-77 and the list goes on.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild allows players to upgrade their armor sets to level 4. To do so players must visit each of the four locations known as Great Fairy Fountains in the game. Each of these locations holds the power of a fairy who can upgrade one piece of armor for the player.

The fact of the matter is that certain armors have very significant increases in poison or curse, fire or magic damage reduction, which makes them extremely useful for specific builds. There are other ways to improve armor stats beyond the use of upgradeable armor, such as the engineer trait to increase armor penetration or the challenger trait that reduces total weight.
Potion
By placing a potion on a stand for brewing, you will be able to unlock new effects. The upgrade opens a different effect tier, and is able to be repeated for more potencies.

It will not affect enchantments, glyphs, cursed armor or weapons, or items that are generated to aid in the elimination of the dangers in rooms.

If you have a trinket which needs to be upgraded, place it in the Anvil to upgrade it. This will have an effect on the trinket and will either increase or strengthen its effects. You can reorge the Trinket as many times as you'd like but it will always have an effect that is new.
You can upgrade your Trinkets in the Alchemy Station by placing them into a Magical Catalyst. This will cost you 6 energy, but increase the power of the trinkets by a tiny amount.
